Codes of Behaviour

All cricket participants are expected to comply with the Codes of Behaviour that apply to their role and involvement in cricket matches, activities and events. 

Matters arising under the Codes may be handled:  

• under relevant competition rules; 
• in accordance with Report and Complaint Resolution Procedure (where relevant 
and it applies); or 
• under any other applicable by-laws, policies or procedures. 

Sanctions or other outcomes may apply to breaches (including disciplinary action, restrictions on participation or removal from a role, activity or event). 


Code of Behaviour – General 


The below general Code of Behaviour applies to all cricket participants and should be read in conjunction with the relevant role-specific Code(s) of Behaviour. 

All cricket participants are expected to:  

  • Recognise and respect the rights, identities and dignity of all participants, regardless of age, race, gender, ability, cultural background, sexuality or religion.
  • Prioritise the physical, emotional and psychological safety of all participants, including themselves.
  • Be ethical and honest in all dealings with other participants. Act with integrity.
  • Comply with applicable Australian Cricket, SACA and Club and/or Association policies and procedures.
  • Abide by a zero-tolerance approach to the use of illicit drugs, performance enhancing substances or excessive alcohol consumption.
  • Never smoke or vape around children and young people, within 10 metres of junior cricket matches, activities or events, or when acting in an official capacity representing a cricket organisation.
  • Never participate in, or encourage, behaviour that may jeopardise the integrity of cricket, including match-fixing, illegal betting or other corruption.
  • Respect the privacy and confidentiality of personal and organisational information.
  • Use social media responsibly and in a manner that does not harm other participants or the reputation of cricket.
  • Report any Prohibited Conduct or other behaviour of concern through appropriate channels.
  • Avoid and appropriately manage any conflicts of interest.
  • Refrain from any other behaviour that may damage the reputation of cricket or a relevant cricket organisation.
