Code of Behaviour – Parents
The active support of parents and guardians plays an important role in supporting a safe, inclusive and positive cricket environment and in enhancing the social and developmental outcomes of a child’s involvement in cricket. This Code of Behaviour – Parents should be read in conjunction with the Code of Behaviour – General.
Parents and Guardians are expected to:
- Support their child’s participation by focusing on effort, development and enjoyment rather than performance outcomes.
- Maintain respectful and constructive communication with coaches, player support personnel and Match Officials.
- Always respect the decisions of coaches and Match Officials.
- Never ridicule, berate or yell at a player for mistakes or performance outcomes.
- Ensure that their child uses appropriate safety equipment relevant to the child’s age and development.
- Refrain from the use of foul, abusive or offensive language, including sledging of players, coaches, player support personnel, Match Officials or spectators.
- Never attend or engage in junior cricket matches, activities or events while impaired by or under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
- Comply with reasonable directions and requests from coaches, player support personnel and Match Officials.
Code of Behaviour – Spectators
Spectators play a vital role in creating a safe, inclusive, enjoyable and respectful atmosphere at cricket matches. This Code of Behaviour – Spectators should be read in conjunction with the Code of Behaviour – General.
Spectators are expected to:
- Behave in a respectful and supportive manner.
- Never ridicule, berate or yell at a player for mistakes or performance outcomes.
- Always respect the decisions of coaches and Match Officials.
- Refrain from the use of foul, abusive or offensive language, including sledging of players, coaches, player support personnel, Match Officials or other spectators.
- Never engage in intimidating, aggressive or disruptive behaviour.
- Comply with all venue requirements, policies, procedures and conditions of entry.
- Never attend or engage in junior cricket matches while impaired by or under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
- Never enter the field of play or interfere with play without approval from the coach, player support personnel or Match Official.
- Comply with reasonable directions and requests from coaches, player support personnel and Match Officials.
