McSweeney and Scott named in Sheffield Shield squad

South Australia has named its squad for the next round of the Sheffield Shield against Queensland at Adelaide Oval, following a dominant innings-and-40-run win over Victoria at Junction Oval.

Captain Nathan McSweeney and all-rounder Liam Scott return to the red-ball squad after completing Australia A commitments.

Scott impressed with the ball, taking nine wickets across two four-day fixtures against India A in Puducherry, including best figures of 5/37.

McSweeney returned to state cricket over the weekend, featuring in South Australia’s 126 win over Queensland in the One-Day Cup at Karen Rolton Oval on Saturday. The captain brought up his half-century from 62 deliveries, before eventually being dismissed for 106 from 103 deliveries.

Opener Jake Weatherald has also been named in the squad after successfully progressing through concussion protocols, having been replaced on day two of the win over Victoria.

Weatherald’s availability alongside the return of Nathan McSweeney and Liam Scott to the squad sees Wes Agar, Matthew Gilkes, Mackenzie Harvey and Noah McFadyen make way.

South Australia will be looking to continue its winning start to the season against Queensland at Adelaide Oval when play commences on Monday morning at 10:30am.

South Australia squad:

Brendan Doggett, Henry Hunt, Jake Lehmann, Ben Manenti, Nathan McAndrew, Nathan McSweeney, Harry Nielsen, Lloyd Pope, Jason Sangha, Liam Scott, Henry Thornton, Jake Weatherald.
