Some of South Australia's brightest young cricketers have travelled to India for a specialised training camp designed to enhance their skills and provide valuable experience in subcontinent conditions.
As part of SACA's ongoing commitment to developing emerging talent, players from both the men's and women's programs travelled to Chennai for an intensive development camp at the prestigious Super Kings Academy.
Under the guidance of Female Pathway Head Coach Graeme Beghin, South Australians Courtney Webb and emerging Under-19 prospect Indira Panelli completed a specialised training program in Chennai, gaining first-hand experience of Indian playing conditions and competing against quality local opposition.
The opportunity to work with experienced Indian coaches and train alongside local players offered unique insight into the challenges of playing in the subcontinent, helping further develop the technical, tactical and mental skills required to succeed at the highest level.
Led by state assistant coach Steven Crook and state pathway coach Shannon Tubb, the men’s group also gained significant match experience, competing in a series of white-ball and red-ball fixtures against representative academy teams.
One of the tour's standout moments came when Indian cricket legend Ravichandran Ashwin joined the South Australian side on the field. The veteran off-spinner bowled four overs and claimed a wicket, helping guide the team to a six-wicket victory.
The tour provided a unique opportunity for South Australia's emerging players to broaden their cricketing education, challenge themselves in unfamiliar conditions and learn from some of the game's most respected coaches and players.
