SACA Saddened by the Passing of Sir Garfield Sobers

The South Australia Cricket Association is saddened by the passing of West Indies cricket legend Sir Garfield Sobers.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest cricketers in the history of the game, Sir Garfield represented South Australia from 1961 to 1964 and played a pivotal role in the team’s 1963–64 Sheffield Shield triumph.

In that title-winning season, Sobers dominated with both bat and ball, finishing as the competition’s leading run-scorer with 973 runs and wicket-taker with 47 wickets.

The South Australia Cricket Association extends its deepest condolences to Sir Garfield’s family, friends, former teammates and the wider cricket community.
