SA official Eloise Sheridan wins top umpiring award

The South Australian Cricket Association congratulates South Australia’s Eloise Sheridan on being named a joint winner of the Cricket Australia Umpire of the Year Award.

The recognition caps off an incredible year for the South Australian, who was appointed to officiate at the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup, including the semi-final between England and South Africa and the final between India and South Africa.

More recently, Sheridan also umpired in the recent Australia v India international series, including a Test match at the WACA.

She also officiated several domestic competitions, including the Sheffield Shield, BBL and WNCL, with her season capped off with an appointment in the WNCL Final between New South Wales and Queensland.

Since beginning her umpiring career in Premier Cricket, Sheridan has built an impressive résumé, officiating at two Women’s Ashes series and the 2022 Commonwealth Games in the UK.

In 2023, she etched her name into the history books alongside Claire Polosak, becoming one of the first women appointed as on-field match officials in the Sheffield Shield.

With nearly 30 years of involvement in South Australian cricket — both as a player and an official — SACA is immensely proud of Eloise’s remarkable career.
