South Australia’s finals hopes have come to an end after a disappointing loss to NSW at Adelaide Oval.
The home side made a bright start with the ball, with speedster Courtney Neale striking early to remove opener Tahlia Wilson in the sixth over. Momentum continued to build as Amanda-Jade Wellington and captain Jemma Barsby chimed in, leaving NSW in trouble at 3/55.
South Australia’s sharp fielding further tightened the screws, with Courtney Webb and Ellie Johnston each claiming crucial run outs. Young all-rounder Eleanor Larosa was the standout performer, delivering an impressive eight-over spell that yielded three wickets and helped restrict NSW to a manageable total of 190.
Unfortunately, South Australia’s chase faltered from the outset. Early wickets saw them slump to 3/14 and later 5/31, placing the innings under severe pressure. Barsby and Holly Armitage mounted a brave resistance, crafting a determined 76‑run partnership for the sixth wicket to drag their side back into contention.
But once their stand was broken, South Australia were unable to steady the ship, with the side bowled out for 128 in the 37th over.
The defeat ends the season for South Australia’s women’s program.
