South Australia have drawn their Sheffield Shield clash against Western Australia at the WACA, as the two teams fought for the Dean Jones Trophy.
Sent into bat first, South Australia endured a tough first innings, posting just 215 despite a determined 96 from Jake Lehmann.
Western Australia looked to be cruising in reply, reaching parity with only three wickets down. But the momentum shifted dramatically when Test hopeful Brendan Doggett sparked a spirited fightback, claiming 6-48 in his Sheffield Shield return to bowl WA out for 307.
South Australia showed far more resilience in their second innings. Henry Hunt (84) and captain Nathan McSweeney (103) led the charge with a commanding 153-run stand. Valuable contributions from Jason Sangha (41), Jake Lehmann (35), Liam Scott (33), and Harry Nielsen (31*) helped the visitors declare with a lead of 302 and just over two sessions remaining to bowl WA out.
Doggett once again led from the front, bowling Sam Whiteman in a tricky batting period before lunch. Despite some late wickets by Liam Scott (3-26), WA were able to hang onto the draw 6 wickets down.
South Australia will next play at Bellerive Oval on 10 November against Tasmania
