The SA Cricket Umpires and Scorers Association (SACUSA) provides several training courses for new and existing scorers. More information can be found here.
Umpiring
SACA and Cricket Australia jointly facilitate umpiring courses and Accreditation. The Online Modules of each course are provided by CA and the face-to-face Workshops are managed by SACA, as well as ongoing umpire support and training.
Umpiring Junior Cricket – Online Course
Designed with parents in mind, this 30 minute online course introduces you to the rules of the game and the Spirit of Cricket so you can support your child in their cricket journey, as well as help facilitate junior matches.

Community Officiating Accreditation
This course is designed for:
- Those interested in becoming cricket umpires on a regular basis for the first time.
- Teachers who supervise and umpire in school competitions.
- Parents who are occasionally required to umpire in junior matches.
- Anyone wishing to expand their knowledge of the game.
This accreditation will allow you to umpire in competitive junior and senior community level matches as well as Junior Premier Cricket.
Components:
- Online Module – approx. 1 hour of self-paced learning
- Face-to-face Workshop – 2 hours (Karen Rolton Oval, available once a month)
- Working with Children Check – mandatory

Representative Officiating Accreditation
This course is designed for those wishing to umpire at Senior Premier Cricket level and beyond.
We suggest 1-2 years’ experience umpiring at Junior Premier Cricket or Adelaide Turf level before undertaking this course.
Components:
- Online Module – approx. 2-3 hours of self-paced learning
- Face-to-face Workshops – 3 x 2 hour sessions (currently run once per year in November)
- Observation at a match by an Umpire Coach
- Working with Children Check – mandatory

High Performance Officiating Accreditation
This program is run by Cricket Australia and selection is via invitation. Umpires who have significant experience at Senior Premier Cricket level or above are considered for this course.
