McAndrew Fires with Five as SA secures victory over Victoria

South Australia has claimed its first One-Day Cup win of the season, defeating Victoria by 79 runs in an emphatic display at Adelaide Oval.

After losing three quick wickets early, Jake Lehmann once again steadied the innings with another composed performance. Lehmann combined with skipper Nathan McSweeney for a crucial 65-run stand that wrestled back momentum and set the platform for a competitive total.

When McSweeney fell, Lehmann continued to anchor the innings, working seamlessly alongside allrounder Harry Manenti to keep the scoreboard ticking. Their efforts ensured South Australia remained in control before some late-order hitting from Harry Nielsen and Nathan McAndrew lifted the total to 9-273 from the allotted 50 overs.

With the ball, South Australia’s attack wasted no time making inroads. Nathan McAndrew produced a devastating spell that tore through Victoria’s top order. His pace and precision earned him five wickets for the match, including three crucial breakthroughs early and two at the death to seal the result.

Manenti backed up his batting efforts with another influential performance, removing the dangerous Sam Harper and Blake MacDonald just as the visitors looked to fight back.

Wes Agar contributed with the ball, taking two wickets and maintaining relentless pressure from the other end as Victoria struggled to keep up with the required rate.

The comprehensive performance saw South Australia secure a well-deserved 79-run victory, their first of the One-Day Cup season.
