Two standout rookies join South Australia line up

Two promising rookies, Douwtjie (Dokey) Hoogenboezem and Maggie Clark, have signed with South Australia for the upcoming 2025/26 season. Both players are anticipated to showcase their potential and are valuable additions to their respective squads.

Born in South Africa, Douwtjie Hoogenboezem moved to Perth at a young age. He quickly made a name for himself in the local cricket scene, playing for the Fremantle District Cricket Club in the WACA Premier Cricket competition and Nightcliff Cricket Club in the Darwin and Districts Cricket Premier Grade.

Hoogenboezem had an impressive 2024/25 summer, scoring 269 runs across three innings in two Toyota Second XI games for Western Australia, and amassing a total of 1279 runs for the entire summer. In 2023, he was the second-highest run-scorer in the Darwin and Districts Cricket competition, with 720 runs at an average of 80.

Expressing his enthusiasm about joining South Australia, Hoogenboezem said, "I’m incredibly excited and grateful to be joining the SA Men’s squad. It’s an awesome opportunity to learn from some of the best cricketers in the country, and I hope to contribute to the success of the association. I can’t wait to get started with the guys and be a part of the SACA community."

Following her signing for the Adelaide Strikers in WBBL|10, Maggie Clark has also received a contract for South Australia’s domestic squad.

Growing up in South Australia’s mid-north, Maggie Clark a right-arm bowler and left-handed batter, plays for West Torrens in the SACA Premier Cricket and has represented South Australia in the Second XI. She was named in the SA Premier Cricket Team of 2023/24 as selected by the captains and coaches of each club. Her skills and maturity have impressed the coaching staff, making her a valuable addition to the squad.

Clark expressed her excitement about signing with the SA Women's squad and her eagerness to contribute to her state in the WNCL, stating, "I'm thrilled to be joining the SA Women's squad and incredibly grateful for this opportunity. I'm eager to get started and can't wait to make the most of this experience. I'm looking forward to contributing to the team's success."

The full SA Men’s squad for the 2025/26 domestic season will be announced on Thursday, May 8, and the SA Women’s squad will be released in the coming weeks.
