Shield squad v Queensland

Fast bowler Jordan Buckingham and batter Jake Fraser-McGurk have bolstered the West End Redbacks squad set to take on Queensland in a Marsh Sheffield Shield clash in Brisbane this week.

Both players missed the Shield match against Western Australia last week due to injury, but both players are again fully fit.

After taking career-best Shield figures against WA, Wes Agar has suffered a back injury and was unavailable for selection.

Opening batter Kelvin Smith has been omitted.

Squad of 12 v Queensland: Jake Lehmann (C), Nathan McSweeney (VC), Jordan Buckingham, Jake Carder, Harry Conway, Brendan Doggett, Daniel Drew, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Henry Hunt, Ben Manenti, Nathan McAndrew, Harry Nielsen (WK)

Redbacks Senior Physiotherapist Sam Offord spoke about Agar's injury.

"Wes aggravated his back and had some spasms that hampered him in the second half of the last Shield game," Offord said.

"We have taken a conservative approach and rested him for this weeks' Shield game against Queensland.

"Wes will have a period of rehab at home and will be reassessed towards the end of this week to determine his return to play timeframes."

The match at the Gabba will begin on Monday, with play set to begin at 10:30am ACDT each day.
