Promising paceman David Grant is from North Adelaide, the same suburb the famous Adelaide Oval is located in. When Grant took up cricket, he modelled his game on Australian Test bowler Glenn McGrath and Grant’s consistency and bounce are key features of his right-arm bowling. His talent was obvious as a teenager and Grant played two youth Tests and nine youth ODI’s for the Australia Under 19 side, before featuring in a tour match against South Africa in 2016 and memorably claiming the wicket of Hashim Amla. Those performances earned him a West End Redbacks rookie contract for the 2016/17 season, making his Sheffield Shield debut in 2017. Whilst injuries have disrupted him at times, Grant has played 15 Shield matches, taking 39 wickets.
