Rain-affected final day sees South Australia draw v New South Wales

South Australia drew their Sheffield Shield clash against New South Wales after facing out a heavily rain‑affected day 4.

South Australia were able to restrict New South Wales’ opening innings, bowling them out for 202 thanks to excellent spells from Nathan McAndrew, who led the attack with figures of 4/23. Brendan Doggett chipped in with three wickets, while Liam Scott claimed two.

With the bat, South Australia fell just short of New South Wales’ first‑innings total, finishing on 197. Jason Sangha top‑scored with 59, bringing up his 1,000th run for South Australia in the Sheffield Shield competition in the process.

New South Wales applied pressure in their second innings, posting a solid total of 440 before declaring after tea on day 3. McAndrew and Doggett were once again the key contributors with the ball, finishing with three wickets apiece and setting South Australia a target of 445 for victory.

With the majority of the final day lost to rain delays, it was Mackenzie Harvey who stood strong and made sure he was there to see out the innings, finishing on 62*.

South Australia's next Shield game is against Queensland at The Gabba on 16 February.
