Jake Lehmann has been named this year’s Men’s Domestic Player of the Year award.
In a landmark year for South Australia, Lehmann proved instrumental to the squad. His prolific run-scoring was crucial in helping South Australia claim their first Sheffield Shield title since 1995/96 and One-Day Cup.
He compiled 855 runs in the Sheffield Shield at an average of 47.5, registering five centuries. He also made a strong contribution in the One-Day Cup, scoring 237 runs at an average of just under 40.
His outstanding form was underlined by an extraordinary sequence of four consecutive Sheffield Shield centuries, spanning the closing stages of the 2024/25 campaign (including the Shield Final) and extending into the opening match of the 2025/26 season.
Lehmann spoke about accepting the honour, saying, “It was a little bit of a shock.
"I felt like I’ve been playing some really good cricket over the last 18 months, so to be recognised by people you’re playing against and by your peers is always something special, and I’m grateful for the acknowledgement."
He also thanked SACA and those who have supported him throughout his career, “To Ryan Harris and the coaching staff, they’ve put in a lot of work and backed me over the last 18 months, giving me the licence to be myself and play the way I want to play. And to my family, my wife, kids and everyone who’s done all the hard yards over the years."
Cricket Australia CEO Todd Greenberg added, “Jake has been a fantastic contributor to South Australia’s recent success and is one of the players who helps make our domestic competitions the best in world cricket.”
Lehmann follows in the footsteps of his father Darren and other South Australians who have won the illustrious award, including, Travis Head (2022), Michael Klinger (2009, 2010) and Darren Lehmann (2000, 2001, 2002).
