South Australia's Nathan McSweeney and Campbell Thompson have been named in the Prime Minister’s XI squad to face an England XI later this month.
The two-day, day-night fixture will take place at Manuka Oval, Canberra on Saturday 29 November and Sunday 30 November.
The squad features a blend of exciting emerging talent and experienced first-class performers, providing an opportunity for players to gain valuable experience against international opposition.
McSweeney made his Australian Test debut last summer against India. This came off the back of an impressive 18-months for South Australia, which included averaging over 40 in the 2023-24 season with three tons.
The South Australian captain has had a trickier start to this season, but scored a brilliant century against Western Australia earlier this month.
Thompson is a fast bowler who plays for East Torrens. The quick came through SACA's Pathway Accademy before receiving his first professional contract in April, 2024.
During the 2023-24 season, he took 29 wickets in First Grade, the fourth most in the competition. This form saw him named in the 2023/24 West End Premier Cricket Men’s Team of the Year.
The squad will be coached by Adelaide Strikers head coach Tim Paine.
Squad of 13: Peter Handscomb (C), Benji Floros, Campbell Kellaway, Campbell Thompson, Charlie Anderson, Doug Warren, Hugh Weibgen, Joel Curtis, Nathan McSweeney, Oliver Peake, Peter Siddle, Sam Konstas, Sam Skelly.
