South Australia names Sheffield Shield squad to take on Western Australia

Brendan Doggett and Ben Manenti return to the South Australian squad for their side’s Sheffield Shield fixture against Western Australia in Perth.

Both have been included for the first time this season after injuries ruled them out of the opening two rounds of the competition.

Manenti played a crucial part in Italy’s first ever qualification for the T20 World Cup over the winter before picking up an ankle injury, while Doggett took 2-67 against New South Wales in the One Day Cup last month before suffering a hamstring injury.

Harry Nielsen receives a call up in place of Alex Carey, who is away on international duty with Australia.

Seamer Henry Thornton is also named in the 13-man squad, having played his first game of the season in the One Day Cup last week.

Wes Agar misses out with a hamstring injury he picked up against Queensland, while Hanno Jacobs has also been omitted from the squad.

Squad of 13: Jordan Buckingham, Brendan Doggett, Henry Hunt, Jake Lehmann, Ben Manenti, Nathan McAndrew, Conor McInerney, Nathan McSweeney, Harry Nielsen, Lloyd Pope, Jason Sangha, Liam Scott, Henry Thornton.
