Jake Weatherald is a raw, explosive talent from Darwin who has cemented his spot as one of the Redbacks’ opening batsmen.
The left-hander had an outstanding JLT Cup campaign with 337 runs and two centuries, including a coming-of-age ton against the Victorians in the Elimination Final at Blundstone Arena. He also made 765 runs at 38.25 throughout the Shield season, which ranked him fourth across the competition.
Weatherald produced the moment of the season scoring a century in both innings in the Redbacks’ unlikely victory at the WACA - the last player to achieve the feat was Darren Lehmann in 1999-2000.
