Chadd Sayers had a quieter Sheffield Shield season by his own lofty standards, but the Redbacks swing king can be excused as his campaign was interrupted with regular selection in the Australian Test squad.
Sayers finally earned Baggy Green 452 in South Africa with the maiden scalp of none other than AB de Villiers after continuously impressing at domestic first-class level. He has now played more than 50 Shield matches for South Australia, and is approaching 250 wickets since making his debut in 2011.
Sayers was also selected in the 17-18 JLT Cup after working hard on his white ball game, and duly contributed at the death in the Redbacks’ thrilling win over Western Australia which secured a spot in the finals.
