Alex Carey
Alex Carey’s rapid rise continues after the athletic wicketkeeper-batsman was named vice-captain of the Australian men’s T20I squad touring England, and Australia A one and four-day squads for their tour of India.
The 26-year-old was rewarded for his consistency behind the stumps when he made his one-day debut against England at the beginning of 2018. He looked right at home in the green and gold with a gallant 27 off 24 balls coming in at no.7 when he usually opens the limited-overs batting with Jake Weatherald.
Carey made his maiden first-class century for South Australia and Queensland in Cairns and he was agonisingly close to a second against Victoria at Adelaide Oval.
