Sheridan joins Irish umpire Mary Waldron on the panel, who has featured as a player and umpire in SACA Premier Cricket over the past few seasons.

Sheridan has experience a rapid rise through the umpiring ranks over the past two years, punctuated by a number of special achievements along the way.

In 2017, she became the first woman to officiate in a SACA West End First Grade men’s match and in 2018, became the first woman to umpire a men’s First Grade final.

Along with NSW umpire Claire Polosak earlier this year, the duo became the first all-female on field team to umpire a professional cricket match, when they officiated a WBBL game at Adelaide Oval between the Adelaide Strikers and the Melbourne Stars.

“As a player, cricket allowed me to travel, meet wonderful people and share a mutual love for the game,” said Sheridan, who is a school teacher by trade.

“It is great now to be able to continue my involvement in cricket in a different role and give something back to the game that has been such a big part of my life.

“I couldn’t take up opportunities like this without the continued support of the South Australian Cricket Association and Cricket Australia, as well as my very understanding partner.”
