Scott, 18, has impressed since moving across from Sydney this season with a century in each of the State’s top level competitions; the Toyota Second XI, West End Redbacks League, and Premier Cricket, both opening the batting and through the middle-order.

The right-hander’s maiden Second XI ton came against his old team in a strong New South Wales Metro in Round One, and his best figures for the competition are 2/36 from eight overs of fast-medium pace bowling.

SACA also advises that West End Redbacks coach Jamie Siddons will take a break from the next two Sheffield Shield matches, for personal reasons.

Greg Blewett will take over as coach for the games against Western Australia and Tasmania, with support from Luke Butterworth.

Alex Carey will captain the State for the first time in first-class cricket in the absence of Travis Head who is in Australia’s Domain Test squad, while Adam Zampa rejoins the team following the T20Is against Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

The match begins in Perth at 1pm (ACDT) from Friday. The final XI will be announced at the toss.
