This week, Scorpions coach Andrea McCauley continues to update us on the pre-season.

Finally, we got some cricket in last weekend with the commencement of our City versus Country competition.

City are the current trophy holders after a 3-2 victory last season. The bowlers dominated the match and a low scoring tussle saw City get the chocolates.

The best performances came from both sides' bowlers. The spin twins Wellington and Price took 2/23 and 2/17 respectively with fast bowler Coyte taking 3/5.

The training track has been very soggy this week, so the indoor centre and gym have been the order of the day.

There has been better weather in northern Australia which was fortunate for four of our players who ventured to Brisbane. Sam Betts, Tahlia McGrath, Alex Price and Amanda Wellington attended Shooting Stars training camp and practice matches. Coach Shelley Nitschke was also asked to attend as the spin bowling coach which is testament to our team structure.

Charlotte Edwards arrives in town from England to commence her summer with us on Tuesday which is very exciting for the squad. Our Southern Stars representative, Megan Schutt also comes home after a successful tour of Sri Lanka!

Let’s hope the sun starts shining next week so we can get some training in outside!
