SA was just one wicket away from another outright win after defeating Victoria last month, but the visitors held on to be 9/243 at the close of play and force a draw.
South Australia declared at 9/307 early on Thursday’s final day at Karen Rolton Oval holding a 354-run advantage over New South Wales Metro.
The visitors started solidly and were 3/153, another 202 runs away from victory, before South Australia’s bowlers pounced.
New South Wales Metro lost 5/29 as SA ripped through New South Wales Metro’s middle order. But the hosts were unable to claim the final wicket in the dying overs to secure full points.
Young West End Redbacks paceman David Grant led the charge with a second-innings five-wicket haul, while allrounders Luke Robins (2/57) and Tom Andrews (2/74) also contributed.
Twin tons to right-hander Brad Davis set up South Australia’s stand in both innings.
Davis scored 100 from 177 balls in the first innings and backed up the performance in his second dig with an aggressive 132 from 123 deliveries which featured 19 boundaries.
