West End Redbacks captain Travis Head brought up a defiant half-century midway through the morning session as SA’s main hope heading into Monday’s final day.
But Head was then bowled by a superb Scott Boland delivery to end his 101-ball innings on 60, clearing the path for an eventual Victorian win.
Returning batsman Jake Lehmann became Boland's second scalp when he was trapped LBW for 22.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Harry Nielsen (40) and Chadd Sayers (25) offered some resistance in the lower order but couldn’t stop the visitors from claiming outright points early in the second session.
Player of the Match Will Sutherland finished with a personal-best six-wicket haul in the second innings.
The result leaves South Australia at the foot of the Shield table ahead of the State’s final match of the season against Queensland at Adelaide’s Karen Rolton Oval from Tuesday, 17 March.
Victoria currently occupies second spot and will host Tasmania from 19 March at CitiPower Centre.
