King becomes a Redback after accepting a rookie contract as reward for a strong Premier Cricket season with East Torrens and impressive performances in the recent Under-19s Hamilton Easter Series against a trio of Victorian representative sides.

Named in the Team of the Series, King starred in the 50-over final against Vic Metro, finishing unbeaten on 57 from 56 deliveries to guide SACA to victory in the unique tournament showcasing the next generation of cricketers.

Batting in the top order for East Torrens, King put together a quality Premier Cricket season that included a sparking century against Glenelg and a half-century in the West End One Day Cup Semi-Final against Kensington.

Redbacks Head Coach Jason Gillespie is confident that King will make an immediate impact on the squad:

“Ryan is a great person and shows a lot of promise and poise at a young age. He will continue to improve within our environment, and we are extremely excited to welcome him into the fold.”
