Jake Winter continued his run spree for Glenelg, blasting 92 off 38 balls in round three of the West End Twenty20 Cup.
Glenelg reached 5/181 after their 20 overs, with Winter hitting six fours and eight sixes. Jacob Dickman (50) was the only batter to get going for Woodville (119) as Harry Cunningham (4/19) and Will Bowering (4/15) tore through the line-up.
Ben Wakim’s explosive 113 off 54 balls guided Adelaide University to their first win of the competition. Uni reached 3/188 and Prospect managed 6/139 in reply, with Harvey Brennan (58) top scoring for the Pirates.
Adelaide squeezed home to victory against defending champions Tea Tree Gully after Phil Neate (21 not out off 10 balls) hit the winning boundary on the last ball of the day. The Bulls set Adelaide 142 for victory, with Adam Somerfield top scoring with 50 off 42 balls. Adelaide captain Ben Pengelley scored his third consecutive T20 fifty and Striker Cam Valente made 39.
A 124-run second wicket partnership between Ben Cooper (76 off 51 balls) and Aaron Sayers (50 off 36) lifted Port Adelaide to 4/182 against Kensington, which then fell eight runs short in the chase. Richard Carter’s figures of 4/26 off his four overs proved crucial in Ports tight win.
West Torrens’s 128 was just enough to seal the win against Southern District. Daniel Drew (43) top scored for the Eagles and Shaun Tanner claimed four wickets for the Stingrays. Josh Barrett (54) gave Southern District hope in the run chase but they were four runs short at the end of the 20 overs.
Northern Districts proved too strong for Sturt, restricting the Blues to 115 thanks to James Harris (3/23) and Cameron Laird (2/16). Mark Cosgrove’s unbeaten 36 guided the Jets to victory with three overs to spare.
