Joe Gatting’s unbeaten 167 helped lift the side from 3/23 late on the first day to a winning total against Adelaide, which had posted 262 on Saturday.

Gatting, who played 47 first-class games for Sussex and Hampshire, shared a 141-run fifth wicket partnership with Tim Davey (68) and hit 14 fours and eight sixes in his four-hour knock.

East Torrens powered to 9/349 in Saturday’s heat after Ben Dougall (135) and Levi Singh (75) set a new record opening partnership of 172. Northern Districts managed only 151 in reply, leaving the Bradbrook Cup with East Torrens.

Southern District secured its first win after bowling Prospect out for 117, Shaun Tanner then making 110 to guide the side to 286.

Port Adelaide successfully defended its score of 169, Nick Benton claiming 6/69 as Woodville was bowled out for only 118.

Young leg-spinner Tom O’Connell snared 6/54 as Sturt dismissed Kensington for 156. Brad Davis made an unbeaten 75 for Sturt, which declared its first innings at 3/161 before finishing at 8/157 in its second dig after chasing outright points.

Glenelg picked up first innings points against top side Adelaide University, opener Tom Plant top-scoring with 88 in his side’s 5/267. Ben Ellis (136 not out) dominated Uni’s 265 after it slipped to 4/29.
