Woodville made 8/305 from its 50 overs and Adelaide’s chase finished eight runs short, Sam Raphael scoring 80 from 73 balls.
Brad Davis posted the highest score of the opening round, his unbeaten 131 steering Sturt to 4/304 against East Torrens, which was bowled out for 174.
Kensington captain Jake Brown led the way to a win over Prospect with an unbeaten 113.
English recruit Tim Rouse, from county side Somerset, made the perfect start to his stint with Northern Districts, scoring 124 as the Jets successfully chased down West Torrens’ score of 9/251.
Aaron Sayers was 99 not out when Port Adelaide passed Adelaide University’s 9/209 for the loss of only two wickets and Glenelg took the points against Southern District.
