Leg-spinner Wellington continues to impress in all formats after making her Test debut for Australia against England in November last year. The 21-year-old has also represented the country in 20 limited-overs matches, taking 25 wickets.

Wellington claimed 4/30 and hit a century for Port Adelaide in the opening round of the Statewide Super Women’s First Grade competition last weekend.

McGrath, 22, was overlooked for a Cricket Australia contract this summer but remains on the radar for national selection.

The allrounder, who is set to play in India for the first time, smashed her maiden Women's National Cricket League century for the Scorpions against Victoria last month.

The Australia A squad will play three 50-over matches and three T20s against India A in Mumbai. The team is currently in Brisbane for a pre-tour training camp and will depart for the subcontinent on Friday.

This is the first official women’s Australia A tour following a restructure of Cricket Australia’s National Talent Pathway last year. The defunct Shooting Stars, Australia’s under-23 team, was previously the only underage national team for women.

Cricket Australia High Performance Coach and Australia A Head Coach, Leah Poulton said it was an exciting opportunity for the players selected.

“We’ve assembled a really exciting and talented group of players who have been presented with a wonderful opportunity to continue to develop their skills against a quality opposition in what will be challenging sub-continent conditions,” she said.
