Wednesday's game will officially kick off the Queenslander's One-Day season, while the Redbacks fell short against Western Australia last week at the same venue.

Vice Captain Alex Carey starred in the opening round, finishing 128 not out, bringing up his first century in the Marsh One-Day Cup.

Brendan Doggett has been named in the extended squad and could potentially make his South Australian debut against his former side if selected.

Quick Kane Richardson will be unavailable, having departed for the UAE ahead of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup later this month.

West End Redbacks Head Coach Jason Gillespie is confident that despite a challenging first game, the group is continuing to look ahead.

"We've reflected a lot on our game against Western Australia, and there are some areas of that we've identified that we can certainly improve upon."

"The group is in a really good place, enjoying each other's company and we are going out there learning as much as we can from each game."
