Berri, Loxton and Renmark hosted the six first grade women’s teams for the final two rounds of the T20 fixture, taking the female competition into regional areas for the first time.
Kensington and Northern Districts were victorious in two from two, with both teams boasting a standout batting performance on Saturday with Bridget Patterson (Kensington, 78 not out) and Tabatha Saville (Northern Districts, 64) dominating.
Kensington’s Katelyn Pope took an impressive 3/1 against Port Adelaide on Saturday, with solid support from fellow pace-bowler Sarah Lowe (2/11).
The Jets' bowlers were in form, with a wide selection of players taking wickets, including best figures from Sophie Roberts (2/2) and Taylah Lewis (2/6).
Laura Niejalke was excellent for West Torrens, reaping figures of 2/7 (v Sturt) and 4/22 (v Northern Districts) against two of the stronger sides in the competition.
West Torrens’ Brooke Harris was also in superb touch, taking three wickets in both matches, while fellow Eagle Tahlia McGrath achieved her best figures for the year, nabbing 2/4 against the Jets.
A spread of significant scores for Southern District’s top four got them across the line over Port Adelaide on Sunday (Selina Solman 20, Jess O’Reilly 36, Ella Wilson 24, Kylie Rattray 28 not out), following an 81-run Northern Districts’ thrashing the day prior.
Sturt’s Sharni Tansell (3/14) and Annie O’Neil (3/19) were the best performers for the Blues across the weekend, with all team members failing to fire with the bat.
Reigning T20 premiers Kensington will attempt to defend their title against West Torrens at Adelaide Oval from 9am on Sunday.
