Head struck a brilliant century against a strong New South Wales outfit in his most recent Marsh Sheffield Shield outing earlier this month, backing up a half-century against Victoria and an unbeaten One-Day Cup 80* against Tasmania to secure his spot in the 14-player squad.

The 25-year-old will again share the vice-captaincy alongside fast bowler Pat Cummins.

Left-hand batsman Head, who boasts a Test average of 42.7, will be out to reclaim his place in the starting XI after being overlooked for the final Test of Australia’s Ashes tour of England at The Oval earlier this year.

Head is the only South Australian representative in the squad unveiled by Cricket Australia on Thursday.

The opening Test begins on Thursday, 21 November at the Gabba followed by the day-night Test at Adelaide Oval from Friday, 29 November. Tickets are still available.
