Heazlett, 22, has overcome a shoulder injury sustained during the JLT One-Day Cup in October which forced him out of the Bulls’ four opening Shield matches.

The left-hander made a successful return with Premier Cricket club Redlands and represented the Queensland Academy of Sport side at Allan Border field earlier this week.

Heazlett, who made his ODI debut for Australia against New Zealand in January, replaces Sam Truloff in Queensland’s 12-man squad.

Two into South Australia’s squad

Paceman Mark Steketee also returns after missing the Bulls’ draw with Western Australia at the WACA last week.

Allrounder Michael Neser won’t feature against several of his Adelaide Strikers teammates after suffering a broken finger in Perth.

Play begins on Sunday from 10am at Cazaly’s Stadium in Cairns in the first ever Shield fixture at the venue.
