Credit Program

Whilst we are optimistic of achieving a full season of cricket, we understand that we need to be prepared for any potential COVID-19 restrictions or requirements beyond our control.

1. What happens if cricket content is reduced or disrupted?

As you’ll appreciate, we continue to operate in very unpredictable times and while we are optimistic of achieving a full season of cricket, we continue to be subject to potential COVID-19 restrictions or requirements beyond our control.

To this end, a credit program will apply in the event that COVID-19 restrictions or requirements result in International or BBL matches, beyond a specified minimum, being lost or forced to proceed without crowds. It may also apply if venue capacity constraints due to COVID-19 restrictions or requirements materially and adversely impact the ability of SACA Members to access cricket matches across the 2021-22 season (as determined by SACA, at its discretion).

Similar to last year, if activated, the credit program will compensate Members by providing a level of credit towards their 2022-23 SACA Membership fee commensurate with an assigned value attributed to lost or sufficiently disrupted content beyond a specified minimum baseline.

The credit program seeks to recognise potential impacts on Members, and provide a level of compensation, in the event that Members’ match access across the 2021-22 season is sufficiently disrupted as set out above, while also recognising that your Membership fee is about more than simply match access. Your Membership fee is a vital contribution towards SACA promoting, supporting and encouraging the development of cricket in South Australia, including through the delivery of programs across South Australia to increase participation, support skill development and improve performance at all levels of cricket (from grass roots, and kids at school, to Club cricket, through to our Strikers, Redbacks and Scorpions).

2. What will the credit program be based on?

The credit program is based on a baseline of cricket content being delivered at Adelaide Oval this season, being:

  • 1 x ODI or T20I (1 International match day);
  • 1 x Test (5 International match days); and
  • 7 x BBL (7 BBL match days).

(the Baseline Content).

Refer to point six (6) for some worked examples of how the credit program will operate and apply.

3. What credit could I receive?

The maximum credit that could be generated with respect to the 2021-22 season is:

 Country Membership $310.00  up to $155.00   $155.00
 Junior Membership  $225.00   up to $112.50  $112.50

Any credit generated with respect to the 2021-22 season will be applied toward your 2022-23 Membership Subscription Fee.

The credit will only apply if International or BBL match days are lost against the Baseline Content due to COVID-19 restrictions or requirements. A match or match day will be deemed to be “lost” if it does not proceed at Adelaide Oval or if it proceeds without crowds at Adelaide Oval. No credit will be applied in respect of any match or match day lost or impacted by reason of a match result or weather or venue capacity constraints due to COVID-19 restrictions or requirements (subject to section six (6) below).

Should Adelaide Oval be allocated additional content, including through the reallocation of matches or the creation of “cricket hubs”, that content would be factored into determining if the Baseline Content has been delivered.

4. How will the credit program apply if a whole Test, ODI/T20I or BBL Home Season is lost due to COVID-19 restrictions or requirements?

We know through multiple surveys that Test Match Cricket is SACA Members’ favourite form of cricket, followed by International ODI/T20 matches and BBL matches (in that order).  Matches in the credit program have therefore been allocated a weighting to reflect Member preferences as follows.

Test ODI/T20 BBL Total Discount / Credit Membership Class
$117.50 $15.00 $50.00 $182.50 Full Membership
$97.50 $12.50 $45.00 $155.00 Country Membership
$72.50 $10.00 $30.00 $112.50 Junior Membership

SACA considers this to be the fairest way to recognise Member preferences and to accommodate the many different ways in which the 2021-22 cricket season could proceed or be impacted in this uncertain environment.

The amounts in the above table will apply if:

  • an entire Test is lost against the Baseline Content;
  • all ODI/T20I match days are lost against the Baseline Content;
  • an entire BBL home season is lost against the Baseline Content (i.e. five or more home games).

5. How will the credit program apply if only a partial Test or partial BBL Home Season is lost due to COVID-19 restrictions or requirements?

The following values will apply if only a partial Test or partial BBL home season is lost due to COVID-19 restrictions or requirements:

Test ODI/T201  BBL Membership Class
$35.00 per day up to a maximum of $117.50  $15 per day up to a maximum of $15 $10.00 per day up to a maximum of $50.00 Full Membership
$30.00 per day up to a maximum of $97.50

$12.50 per day up to a maximum of $12.50

$9.00 per day up to a maximum of $45.00 Country Membership
$25.00 per day up to a maximum of $72.50  $10 per day up to a maximum of $10 $6.00 per day up to a maximum of $30.00 Junior Membership

6. What happens if matches proceed at Adelaide Oval, but with crowd restrictions?

If a cricket match or match day proceeds at Adelaide Oval with some SACA Member access permitted, the match or match day will not be deemed to be “lost” due to COVID-19 restrictions or requirements for the purpose of triggering a credit under the credit program.

However, if venue capacity constraints due to COVID-19 restrictions or requirements materially and adversely impact the ability of SACA Members to access cricket matches across the 2021-22 season, SACA may determine, in its absolute discretion, to still (separately) apply a specified credit towards a Member's 2022-23 Membership Subscription Fee. Any credit to apply in these circumstances, and the amount, will be notified to Members at the conclusion of the 2021-22 cricket season. Any additional discretionary credit that may be determined by SACA would be set at a level so that the total Member credit to be received for the 2022-23 season still remains capped at the maximum credit amount for the relevant Membership Class set out in the table in section three (3) above. Members will not be entitled to any credit or amount above the relevant capped maximum credit value set out in that table.

Can you provide some worked examples of how the credit program will operate and apply?

The tables below have been prepared to assist Members to understand how the potential credit program would apply in the event that a whole Test Match, a whole ODI/T20I Match or a whole BBL home season was lost due to COVID-19 restrictions or requirements:

Below are several practical examples of how the credit program would work if matches or match days are “lost” due to COVID19 restrictions or requirements:

Example 1:
Scenario:

Some Member access permitted to Days 1-4 of Test Match but no play on Day 5 as match result achieved on Day 4, all scheduled ODI/T20I washed out and no BBL matches due to COVID-19

Interpretation

  • Test Match – No credit generated, as some Member access permitted
  • ODI/T20I - No credit generated for any match day lost by reason of a match result or if weather impacted
  • BBL matches lost in entirety resulting in combined discount/credit as follows:
    • Full Member $50
    • Country Member $45
    • Junior Member $30

Outcome

  • No credit generated in excess of the upfront discount to Membership Subscription Fees

Example 2:
Scenario:

Test Match cancelled or proceeds without crowds due to COVID-19, some Member access permitted for ODI/T20I and 7 BBL matches proceed:

Interpretation:

  • Test Match – Credit generated, as no crowds permitted at entire Test Match/Test Match cancelled, resulting in combined discount/credit as follows:
    • Full Member $117.50
    • Country Member $97.50
    • Junior Member $72.50
  • ODI/T20I - No credit generated, as some Member access permitted
  • BBL - No credit generated, as some Member access permitted

Outcome:

  • Credit generated as per above, with credit applied to 2022-23 Membership Subscription Fees per below:
    • Full Member – Total credit of $117.50 applied to 2022-23 Membership Subscription Fees
    • Country Member Total credit of $97.50 applied to 2022-23 Membership Subscription Fees

Junior Member - Total credit of $72.50 applied to 2022-23 Membership Subscription Fees

Example 3:

Scenario:

Some Member access permitted to Days 1-2 of Test Match, but Days 3-4 proceed without crowds due to COVID-19 and no play on Day 5 as match result achieved on Day 4, all scheduled ODI/T20I cancelled or proceeds without crowds due to COVID-19, some Member access permitted for 7 BBL matches:

Interpretation:

  • Test Match – Credit generated for the 2 days on which no crowds permitted, resulting in combined credit as follows:
    • Full Member 2 days x $35.00 = $70.00
    • Country Member 2 days x $30.00 = $60.00
    • Junior Member 2 days x $25.00 = $50.00
  • ODI/T20I - Credit generated, as no crowds permitted/cancelled, resulting in combined credit as follows:
    • Full Member $15
    • Country Member $12.50
    • Junior Member $10
  • BBL - No credit generated, as some Member access permitted

Outcome:

  • Credit generated as per above, with credit applied to 2022-23 Membership Subscription Fees per below:
    • Full Member – Total credit of $85 applied to 2022-23 Membership Subscription Fees
    • Country Member Total credit of $72.50 applied to 2022-23 Membership Subscription Fees
    • Junior Member - Total credit of $60 applied to 2022-23 Membership Subscription Fees

Example 4:
Scenario:

Test Match proceeds without crowds, no play on Day 5 as match result achieved on Day 4, however some Member access permitted for 4 days of an additional Test Match allocated to Adelaide, all scheduled ODI/T20I cancelled or proceed without crowds due to COVID-19, some Member access permitted for 7 BBL matches:

Interpretation:

  • Test Match – If Adelaide Oval is allocated additional content, including through the reallocation of matches or the creation of “cricket hubs”, that content would be factored into determining whether the Baseline Content has been delivered

    • Full Member – Total credit of $15 applied to 2022-23 Membership Subscription Fees
    • Country Member – Total credit of $12.50 applied to 2022-23 Membership Subscription Fees
    • Junior Member - Total credit of $10 applied to 2022-23 Membership Subscription Fees

Example 5:
Scenario:

Some Member access permitted for entire Test Match, no play on Day 5 as match result achieved on Day 4, all scheduled ODI/T20I cancelled or proceed without crowds due to COVID-19, some Member access permitted for 3 BBL matches of 7 (i.e. 4 BBL matches cancelled or proceed without crowds due to COVID-19):

Interpretation:

  • Test Match – No credit generated as some Member access permitted
  • ODI/T20I - Credit generated, as no crowds permitted/cancelled, resulting in combined credit as follows:
    • Full Member $15
    • Country Member $12.50
    • Junior Member $10
  • BBL - Credit generated as individual days cancelled or proceed without crowds, resulting in combined discount/credit as follows:
    • Full Member 4 days x $10 = $40
    • Country Member 4 days x $9 = $36
    • Junior Member 4 days x $6 = $24

Outcome:

  • Credit generated as per above, with credit applied to 2022-23 Membership Subscription Fees per below:
    • Full Member – Total credit of $55 applied to 2022-23 Membership Subscription Fees
    • Country Member – Total credit of $48.50 applied to 2022-23 Membership Subscription Fees
    • Junior Member - Total credit of $34 applied to 2022-23 Membership Subscription Fee
    • Junior Member - Upfront discount of $30.00 plus credit of $4.00

Example 6:
Scenario:

Days 1-4 of Test Match proceed without crowds due to COVID-19, no play on Day 5 as match result achieved on Day 4, some Member access permitted for all ODI/T20I’s, some Member access permitted for 7 BBL matches, plus ability to attend additional BBL content allocated to Adelaide:

Interpretation:

  • Test Match – Credit generated as whole Test Match cancelled or proceeds without crowds, resulting in combined credit as follows:
    • Full Member $117.50
    • Country Member $97.50
    • Junior Member $72.50
  • ODI/T20I - No credit generated, as some Member access permitted
  • BBL - No credit generated, as some Member access permitted

Outcome:

  • Credit generated as per above, with credit applied to 2022-23 Membership Subscription Fees per below:

    • Full Member – Total credit of $117.50 applied to 2022-23 Membership Subscription Fees
    • Country Member – Total credit of $97.50 applied to 2022-23 Membership Subscription Fees
    • Junior Member - Total credit of $72.5 applied to 2022-23 Membership Subscription Fees

Note: Notwithstanding increased BBL content, credit generated due to value Members’ ascribe to international cricket specifically
