Four Australian teams (35 & Over, 40 & Over, 45 & Over, 50 & Over) have been named following the conclusion of the Australian Indoor Masters Championships in Canberra, in which South Australia’s 50 & Over side, The Southern Spiders, fell short of a finals berth.

After losing their first four matches of the tournament, the Spiders shocked the competition with two wins in their next three games, one of which was a thrilling one-run victory over rivals Victoria.

SA went into the final day of the competition just two points away from fourth position, however losses to New South Wales and North Queensland saw them finish the competition in fifth position.

Challen’s stellar tournament saw him earn selection in the Australian side.

Across seven matches, Challen compiled 140 runs and collected six wickets, producing a contribution score (runs scored minus runs conceded from bowling) for the tournament of 77, the highest for the South Australian side.

Although from the Northern Territory, Challen plays with South Australia due to NT not fielding a team in the tournament.
