Openers Jake Weatherald, Sam Raphael, left-arm orthodox spinner Tom Andrews and all-rounder Cameron Valente have all been named in the Redbacks’ 13-man Shield squad set to face New South Wales in Sydney.

In their place, experienced ‘keeper-batsman Tim Ludeman, all-rounders Ben Pengelley and Alex Gregory and off-spinner Michael Cormack have been added to the squad.

South Australia enter the match with a number of players in outstanding form, including young Kensington batsman John Dalton.

The 19-year old followed up back-to-back centuries against Victoria, with another 78 in Premier cricket last weekend against Adelaide University.

It comes just one week after making a season-high 149 for the Browns, giving the rookie Redback an average of 143 from his last four innings.

Futures League coach Shane McDermott said the match would be a good opportunity to test the squad's depth and attempt to finish the season on a high.

"It's been exciting to see our boys develop this year on and off the field, and it's always a good test when your Shield side is playing at the same time," he said.

"We're looking forward to seeing young Ben Pengelley make his debut as well. He's a promising young player and a ripping kid that we're hoping will do really well."

Play will begin at 10.30am at Gliderol Stadium. Entry is free.
