Alex Carey's top five dismissals of season 2016/17

The footballing prodigy-turned professional cricketer hasn't missed a beat in his first full season behind the stumps for the Redbacks, recording an outstanding 53 dismissals - just five short of Wade Seccombe's record of 58.

His knocks of 46* and 1 against Tasmania over the weekend saw him fall just shy of claiming the record during the regular season, but will have another opportunity thanks to the Redbacks thrilling final qualification.

Should Carey record just eight more runs against the Bushrangers he'll join an elite club of gloveman including outgoing Queensland keeper Chris Hartley, Test incumbent Matthew Wade and former Australian legend Adam Gilchrist.

Whilst the 25 year-old's work behind the stumps has been near faultless this season, he's also been the beneficiary of a career-best year from Chadd Sayers, with 31 out of his 53 dismissals attributed to the work of the Redbacks swing king.

Along with his trademark athletic catches off the quicks, Carey also showed his ability to keep up to the stumps throughout the season, assisting leg-spinner Adam Zampa on three separate occasions in his ten-wicket haul against Queensland.

Carey's 48th dismissal against New South Wales in round 9 eclipsed the previous South Australian record for most dismissals in a single season held by teammate Tim Ludeman.
