SAPSASA boys
2010-11 trials
Monday September 27th AND Tuesday September 28th
Park 25 No. 3 (back oval) – Port Road just west of North Terrace.
Park in the main car park off Port Road or in the car park off West Terrace opposite the West Terrace/Hindley Street intersection.
Please arrive 15-30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. Allocated time is tight, so we will try and get going right on time.
Please bring your own drinks, runners and spikes (if you have them). Training attire is acceptable, however, if you do want to bat, bowl or field in whites, then that is fine.
Groups and times may change for day 2.
If you are unable to attend the session below, you MUST let me know prior. These will be the last of the trials in this format, so if you are unable to attend, we will go on what we have already seen previously. Players who do miss out will have the opportunity during the first few games of the season and the SAPSASA carnival in November (if you are involved) to restate your case for selection. Also remember that this is one entry point to this level of cricket and is not the end to getting into the system if you miss out. It is a selection at this point in time for state level. You may have the opportunity through the statewide carnivals during the season to perform again in front of state squad selectors.
This is not a coaching session. It is a trial. However, players who do miss out are welcome to contact me for further information. I will not compare players or argue over selection, but I am happy to discuss player improvements or why players missed selection.
In the case of wet weather, please keep an eye on this website and your emails for updates or phone me on the contact details below. Sessions may have to be moved to the Adelaide Oval Indoor Centre at different times.
Players will need to visit this website on Wednesday September 29th for the naming of the squad. Players selected will have a block training session on Wednesday October 6th, Thursday October 7th and Friday October 8th to start the program. There may also be practice matches on Thursday September 30th and Saturday October 2nd for available players and weather permitting. Further details regarding all this will follow to the squad.
As a guide, please note the following:
1. All players will be seen twice more over this period. Play as you naturally would. I would advise parents to restrict the amount of information to their child and just let them play.
2. Players should turn up ready to play under match conditions and adapt to situations given.
3. Providing we are outside, players will also be watched very closely for their fielding and attitude in the field.
4. Players will also be watched closely for their ability under pressure.
5. Not all players will be required to bat and bowl.
