Indigenous cricket

The SACA, in conjunction with representatives from the South Australian Indigenous community, coordinates opportunities for indigenous people to be involved in the game of cricket.

Each year a state-wide carnival is run with teams from metropolitan and regional South Australia. A State team is selected to compete in the annual Imparja Cup, held in Alice Springs. Like South Australia’s Jason Gillespie, it is hoped that many young indigenous cricketers will get involved in the game at a young age to hopefully go on to play for the West End Redbacks and ultimately Australia. The South Australian team is known as the Southern Boomerangs. A new logo and identity has been developed to represent those playing for the state at the Imparja Cup.

If you would like be involved in the SACA’s Indigenous cricket program please contact Michael Case at SACA on (08) 8300 3838.
